That is odd (you'd expect it if the Finder, not GC, was being told
to open
the file). Select any tiff in the Finder, right-click
(option-click) and select Get Info (or press command-I). Switch the
Open
With popup to GraphicConverter, then click Change All… button. I bet
that GC
will now open your tiffs, in AS as well as in the Finder.
You are correct, once I changed the default app to GC for all tiffs,
the script executed fine: opened a tiff in GC, saved it as a PDF,
closed the window and repeated until all tiffs had been processed.
Not really sure why I have to do this since I am explicitly telling GC
to "open myfile", but it works.
