I would like someone to be able to use applescript to send some
files to my application for processing but I have no idea how to
make my application visible to applescript, so that if the
application is already running it can send some files to it, if it
isnt running it is started and files
then sent to it. Could you point me in the right direction please ?
thanks paul
A simple.....
tell application "Finder"
activate application "Adobe Photoshop CS4"
end tell
Replace "Adobe Photoshop CS4" with the name of your app.
This starts your app if it's not running, or simply activates it if
it is already running.
You can also test the list of running processes, and only use the
activate line if the app is not in the processes.
tell application "Finder"
processes
end tell
Thats great thanks, I was thinking to actually get my program to
receive files the easiest way would be for it to monitor/poll a
folder/file that could be added to by the calling applescript, do
you agree?

G'day Paul
It might be the easiest way, depending on the complexity of what
you're doing with the files. If you are dealing with email attachments
for instance, then it might be easier to strip them out of the email,
store them in your folder, then call the next script.

Santa
