When a memory card is inserted it's treated as any other volume, and I seem to remember a thread about a folder action that would trigger if a volume were mounted, I've been looking in the archives, but I can't find that thread.
I believe there is a folder that contains icons for mounted volumes. If that is a thing, that's what Mark is looking for.
