Open folders in new window

  • Subject: Open folders in new window

In the Finder's Preferences, General tab, there is a check box named "Always open folders in a new window".

Yesterday, I noticed that UNCHECKING this box fixed a problem with "Search the Current Folder" in the Advanced tab.

Today, I noticed that CHECKING this box fixed a problem with an alias file (created by my script) which, when double-clicked, opened a folder window with the wrong bounds.

I started a bug report on this. Then, I realized that I don't know what the "Always open folders in a new window" is supposed to do!

Does anyone know the intended consequences of this check box?
