Could you check that there are no discrepancies between the actual
contents of com.apple.mail.plist, the values returned by "defaults
read com.apple.mail" and those returned from Mails's properties?
On the other hand, no forgotten cron job or launchd periodic task?
I've found no problem in com.apple.mail.plist.
I've never looked at cron or launchd. If there's something there, I
don't know about it.
I just asked to rule out any possibilities, for example in case you
once upon a time experimented with such a job and afterwards forgot
about those experiments.
But doesn't seem to be the case here. :-)
I've been checking my Trash mail multiple times daily in hope of
catching the problem in the act. But ... no problem. Every morning,
I click a button that archives trash over 3 days old ... no problem
there.
Ha?!? Three days vs today and previous...
What exactly does that button do?
