Active Protocols

Is there a way - using shell scripts or otherwise - to find the "active protocols" on a particular computer?

There is http and ftp and phone; and if you install FileMaker, fmp7 etc.

And as shown here, you can roll your own:

http://www.macosxautomation.com/applescript/linktrigger/index.html

Is there some way to find the "active" or "registered" list specific to a particular computer and its current configuration?
