Years ago I got into trouble when I executed a port scan to get that answer. It seems that the subject computer was in a secure area of the corporation. It's pretty much an attempt to telnet to a big range of ports and record the ones that answer.
I think I used AgNet tools on a Classic Mac. 1977, http://www.aggroup.com gets redirected to http://www.wildpackets.com/. The network security types must have newer ways.
