Scrolling in Lion

Scrolling in Lion is becoming a real pain. It wasn't a problem at first, since most of the files I was looking at were short.
I opened a very large AppleScript with Smile. The slider in the scroll bar is very tiny. When I try to scroll I keep jumping back and forth over the section of code I want to see. AppleScript Editor has the same problem.
Is there any way to get the scroll arrows back? This is driving me nuts!
