So, I tried it. This setting does not change following alias files into folders. With this set to TRUE, you get nothing more than a modified Grid option. It still follows alias files into folders. And, no, I don't like it.

There is a way to prevent this that I used in Tiger. I used .webloc files instead of alias files in the menu folder.
The problem, if I recall correctly, was that each menu item ended with ".webloc" which looked funny.
