I replaced this line ...

(make new alias file at outerFolder to linkedFolder with properties {name:subFolderName}) as alias

with this ...

(make new internet location file at outerFolder to (the result) with properties {name:subFolderName}) as alias

and, instead of aliases files, I got .fileloc files. They work just like alias files, but the Dock does follow into the original folder.  But there is a problem ... every one of these menu items does not have a folder icon and ends with ".fileloc" unless the user has turned-off Show all filename extensions. This could be a little confusing, but nothing like Lion's menu folder display with alias files.

Another possibility is to use simlinks. I'll let you know when I've tried it.
