On the contrary . . .several reasoned arguments for it have been posted . . .Apple's app does it that way, it's easier for non-geeks, it's easier to scan quickly on a mobile device, etc. Unfortunately, those reasons aren't any more valid to the anti-top proponents than the anti-top proponents arguments are to the pro-top. My point was that since nobody will convince the other side . . .and since each has what they see as valid points . . .and since each side sees the other side's points as invalid or belligerently posted that a debate about it is pretty much pointless and that both pro and anti proponents need to just accept that.
Trimming (or lack thereof) of quotes is a completely different issue . . .there are plenty of inappropriately trimmed posts no matter if they are top or bottom posted. I agree with you that too many users quote everything, how many times have we seen 800 quoted lines with a Me too. added either top or bottom?
I frankly don't care whether posts are top or bottom . . .I am comfortable with both and can follow the conversation in either case. However, as I previously stated, Mail top posts and that is the primary reason that most people top post. Maybe it should be a preference in Mail . . .obviously Apple thinks that top posting is OK or easier for novice users or whatever so they chose not to add a potentially confusing preference . . .but then there are lots of things I would like Finder and other Apple apps to do that could be hidden behind an "Advanced Preferences" option . . .but the fact is that we're stuck with Mail. QuoteFix kinda/sorta works . . .but it breaks whenever the OS is updated. After the recent claims that it didn't . . .I tried downloading the latest version and sure enough, Mail complains about it being an incompatible plug-in. While it appears to work . . .Mail still thinks it's broken and hence it got disabled. I'm sure the author is a nice guy . . .after all he wrote and maintains the thing for free . . .and I'm not intending to disparage his efforts at all. But as long as Mail keeps complaining that it is incompatible how are we supposed to know if that's just an invalid error due to a version string or something . . .or if the code in it actually has unknown or unspecified issues with the current version of Mail.

There are only three kinds of stress; your basic nuclear stress, cooking stress, and A$$hole stress. The key to their relationship is Jello.
