Yup. I think you can set it in Xcode build settings if I recall correctly (if you’re building in Xcode).

For apps running on your machine, google ‘turn off autosave’ and you’ll come across  a multitude of posts referring to ‘Apple Persistence=“No’ in the global preferences list. You can turn it off globally or per app.

In the early days of Lion, some people got round it by simply locking that Saved States folder, tho’ I strongly suspect that’ll cause Console to fill up with log messages complaining about it not being writable, so probably not advisable.
