Actually, there are more people who use the Mac for productivity, not just developers. They also are forced to use a less and less efficient OS. For instance, the DTP people must also be foaming at their mouths. I occasionally write some scripts for some of them, and I get the impression they are getting more and more reluctant to upgrade their OS. *Everyone* who earns his money using a Mac to get things done is affected.
The situation begins to remind me of the Win 95/98 thing. Even in 2010, there were lots of people using Win 98, notwithstanding all the security issues, simply because it was efficient to use. Well, efficient for Windows, anyway.
What percentage of Mac users actually does use a Mac on a casual, spare-time basis and likes those ever-recurring animation things and the bouncy stuff and all that? It's all right for show, but after some months you either don't observe it any more or it drives you crazy.
