Recently, I needed a script that would accept an integer input (minutes to alarm) then sound an alarm when the script times-out. Fairly easy to do. First thing I discovered is that the script did work properly.
The second thing I discovered is that the script always fails because my computer goes to sleep while the script is running.
I need some command that will prevent sleep until the script finishes.
I found the man page for 'caffeinate' in Lion, but 'caffeinate' is only installed in Mountain Lion, so this is not currently useful. I have also found notes that indicate that 'pmset' might work.
Does anyone know of a simple command that will temporarily inhibit sleep for a short time?
(I would not like to change any defaults.)
