to burn and the 'drutil' command seems to also be used in "Disk Utility".
Last Saturday, my script failed to burn a dvd. I have been trying to find the cause of this problem since.
I substituted a known good DVD-burner for my original FireWire connected external burner.
In Lion (10.7.5) I tried to burn my sparsebundle file to a DVD using only Disk Utility. This failed.
I have a seldom used Mt. Lion (10.8.5) startup disk, so this should be uncorrupted.
I tried the same test in Mt. Lion, but again failed.
I tried again in Mt. Lion, but used a USB connection instead of FireWire. Success.
My problem seems to be this:
In Lion (10.7.5) and Mt. Lion (10.8.5) burning a sparsebundle file
to a FireWire connected DVD-burner via Disk Utility FAILS.
If so, you may be able to shed some light on this problem.
