G’day Dee Dee
I’ve been using folder actions now for 9 years, and found them reliable, with one caveat, keep the called applescript VERY simple.
My folder action script (which is bound to 46 folders, all within one main folder), exists solely to call a more complicated Applescript, which does all the hard work.
It saves the name of the called folder to a .dat file, which is then read by the larger Applescript, which then acts on that folder.
Regards
Santa

Specifically, there was a problem with folder actions that rename files, appending the new name repeatedly to the maximum file name size. I never saw any posted solution.

Pretty simple stuff.
