Again: *you* had. The date format you keep pining for didn't work for many people. It wasn't dropped to annoy Ed Stockly or AppleScript users. Your samples give different results here.

In case it's not obvious, the AppleScript team don't write the code for things like date conversions (or much else) -- they just write code that calls the relevant OS routines. If Apple change the rules for developers, AppleScript has to go along or risk breaking altogether when the code is discontinued. That's what happened here. In a sense, you can argue it's a case of scripters being held to a reliability standard set for code often used in much different circumstances. But all the banging on about it is not going to alter what's happened, and the fact that for most *Mac* users, it's been a change for the better. Applications you pay money for are likely to be more reliable because of it.

Can't you specify a format and check? You're only talking dates, so it's not that hard to parse.
