There are a few things I would use a standard library for, if it were
included in the standard install (or easily added via a script).
Sorting lists and records; lookup values in lists; all kinds of text
manipulations; file/folder syncing over a network and/or the internet;
various shell commands (reg-ex, for example).
It would be nice to be able to share and distribute scripts knowing that
those kinds of commands were available on almost any machine.
But I think the biggest value of a standard library would be that
scripters would be able to explore it one their own, learn how libs work
without having to read a ton of documentation and more easily write their
own libraries.
