Is that intentional?

OMM Command-f by itself always opens a "Searching This Mac" finder window.
(The finder, not a separate application.)


Command-option-f simply activates the search field in the frontmost finder
window, unless there is no window open then it opens a "Searching This
Mac" finder window.

Option-f by itself just types the special f character which does different
things in different contexts.
