Yes, while printing is not as strong as it was 15 years ago it’s still an $85 billion industry. And AppleScript/workflow automation is still extremely valuable to it. The Adobe apps which are effectively the industry standard are highly scriptable. The printing companies that will survive are evolving to exist in a digital world and many of the processes and workflows that lent themselves to automation are still there. Companies that have a capable AppleScripter on their staff give themselves an economic advantage. My scripting skills pale compared to many on this list but I’ve written several scripts for use in my design department that save an incredible amount of tedious manual work allowing the designers to spend more of their time designing.
