 I agree with you that classic workflow automation isn't going away; but today's PCs and Macs are increasingly interchangeable web terminals, and above all the Mac only counts for 15% of Apple's revenues these days. Most of the money comes from sporadically-on  devices whose intelligence is actually spread across the web.

Not totally. A business isn't going to need to automate light bulbs and coffee pots when their job is to automate the forming of customer data into an InDesign file for print. There is PLENTY of need to automate things on a single Mac. Always will be.
