If some of you clubs do a Christmas emphasis of some sort in your December
meeting, I'm curious as to what you do. Do any of you decorate your meeting
room? Have a Christmas-themed program of some sort? Do any of you do a
full-blown Christmas dinner, catered, at a restaurant or pot-luck? Other
ideas?
Our club has a Christmas dessert event. Everyone brings a favorite dessert
(or one that was on special at the grocer's...) and the club furnishes the
drinks, ice and paperware. We called it "Dessert Storm" for a few years,
then "Operation Enduring Calories." This year it's "Collateral Calories."
(Don't ask me why we choose military themes... lol.) We emphasize clearly
and often that it's OK to come even if you have nothing to bring; we've
always had plenty of food. This is a popular and fun change of pace.
