Yes, it is. Of course, that option still doesn't give you iDisk, or the
incredibly easy and good looking Homepage templates, or iCards (made from
your own images, if you like), etc.
I think iTools -- and now .Mac -- was designed mostly for ordinary Mac users
who need things to be easy and quick, not for users who know how to design
and upload their own websites. Most people have neither the time nor the
inclination to learn those skills. Nor do they want to invest in the
software they would need to do that. But they'd still like to put up a page
of photo's to share with friends and family, or a file-sharing webpage, etc.
It's probably true that almost everything .Mac offers you can find cheaper
elsewhere. But it won't all be in the same place, it won't all be
integrated, it probably won't be Mac-friendly, and it certainly won't be as
good.
Is ".Mac" good value for the money? I think so. Is it worth it to you? Maybe
not.
I'll upgrade my iTools to .Mac. It's worth it to me in lots of ways. And
I'll move to Jaguar when I can.
