Session Description: Hear Dr. Ernest Prabhakar, UNIX guru on the
Mac OS X Product Management Team, talk about the UNIX tools available for
administrators in Mac OS X 10.2 "Jaguar". This talk is primarily intended
to help current Mac users learn about the various UNIX tools and techniques
available to them on Mac OS X, though it will also help experienced UNIX
users learn more about the unique capabilities of Mac OS X from a UNIX
perspective. Dr. Prabhakar will discuss the relation of Mac OS X to UNIX,
the nature of the command-line user environment, and tools and techniques
for bringing additional UNIX software to Mac OS X.

Follow the instructions below to insure a successful log-in.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
Cable modem, DSL or campus LAN. 56K users can join for audio and PPT slides,
but will not be able to receive streaming video.
IT'S INTERACTIVE:
During the Webcast, you'll be able to "chat in" your questions and
presenters will answer them live.
JOINING THE WEBCASTIT'S EASY: Be prepared. Take a few moments now to
download the cast:stream 1.5.1 software (instructions are below). Then log
on to the broadcast within 15 minutes of the program start.
SETUP INSTRUCTIONS:
If you have problems with this setup process through Thursday, September
26th ONLY, contact email@hidden. Setup questions cannot be handled the
day of the Webcast.
1. Go to the following web page, to review the minimum system requirements
http://webcast.training.apple.com/test/
2. You'll want to install QuickTime 6 if you don't already have so.
3. Download the cast:stream 1.5.1 Player to your desktop. It will unstuff
automatically and place a folder on your desktop called "cast:stream Player"
(Windows users will have to unstuff it manually).
4. Complete the "Connection Speed" and "Streaming Test" sections to confirm
that your configuration is correct.
5. Launch the player application in the cast:stream folder. Once you "Agree"
to the user license, but before logging on, select "Preferences" from the
cast:stream Player menu in Mac OS X (or the Edit menu for Mac OS 9 or
Windows) and enter the following address into the cast:stream server address
field:
webcast.training.apple.com
6. Click OK and quit the cast:stream player application. You are ready for
Friday's broadcast.
7. On Friday, within 15 minutes of the program start, open the cast:stream
Player application and enter your name, location and the broadcast ID for
this broadcast.
The broadcast ID is: Xserve
If you enter the broadcast ID incorrectly or attempt to join the broadcast
more than 15 minutes before the start, you will see the following message:
"Login cancelled. No such broadcast." If you see this message, reenter the
broadcast ID correctly or wait until 15 minutes before the program start.
8. Click 'connect.'
9. When the Webcast has reached its 200-person limit, you'll see the
message: "Sorry, the server has reached its maximum number of connections.
Please contact the broadcast producer for additional information."
