sandy foderick <-too many questions for one post but wondering
Rick Curran sure said it all well!
It was hard for the LAMG, when 5,000 members strong. It's hard for many
groups. When I wrote Mac Efficiency 101 for MacCentral, I had many UG
editors writing to me seeking permission to publish my columns because
material is so hard to come by and takes so much work. (I always gave
permission as long as they credited me and MacCentral.)
A while ago someone asked about websites and I posted that I helped move the
San Gabriel MUG (Pasadena, CA) away from a newsletter and to a website. We
are now putting out issues only when there is something to write. We just
didn't see a reason to keep on pushing for content. Those on our board who
didn't want to kill the newsletter stated only that it was our venue for
announcing meetings. We now use email for that and have the meeting info on
the website. I don't think it has hurt our membership numbers. People join
our group for the meetings.
Is there a way to get reviews more easily? I think so. Several years ago I
talked to Diane Cohen (the Apple UG liaison) about having her as be a
reviews-sharing clearing house. I will forward my proposal to this group.
Maybe this list is a way to do that. Or maybe Chuck's group would like to do
something along the lines of my proposal. Maybe this would be a good topic
to discuss on a WWB Chat.
