User groups and affiliate programmes - ethical or not?

  • Subject: User groups and affiliate programmes - ethical or not?

I was just wondering: is it ethical, financially or otherwise (if financial
ethicality even exists) for the home page of a user group to join an
affiliates programme such as Amazon?

I mean are we not non-profits? Would affiliate programme applications be
viewed as unethical and hint more at money mongers than friendly user group
folks?

Friendly regards,
