Our group has been around for about 10 years, & prior leadership didn't
have any type of structure in place.
We got liability coverage this spring for the group since we wanted to
have our Expo at the fair grounds & they required it. We'll probably
continue to carry it simply for a safety net.
Basic liability ($1Million) runs us about $250 (based on 120 members) -
this doesn't cover any officers (we aren't incorporated), but does
provide the safety net if something happens at an event or meeting.
As for insurance to cover board members, I don't know. This is
something I'd like to hear more about too - especially for smaller
groups that don't have the $$ flow.
