Last fall someone sent me an article about how a group was involved in
community service and that they'd made the local newspaper.
Many Mac User Groups describe themselves as a community group. But
how many
groups serve beyond their members and get involved in outside community
events or assistance?
We've helped schools and non-profit organisations get their Macs in and
set up. Refurbed 20 or so older Macs that were being replaced in a
graphics house for another school that had 6 (count'em) computers. When
the local Chest, Heart and Stroke charity building was burned down, we
went in and installed their cabling in their new building so they could
get up and running again (sadly, they use PCs and a fundraising program
called Razors Edge*).
I think that the community extends beyond those who use Macs never mind
beyond the members.

*anyone got any examples of fundraising software that might be
comparable?
