Dealing with a common problem

I have to admit there is no easy solution to this problem. I have a program
chair who is essentially useless because I can not trust him to interact
with the vendors with causing problems and I am now stuck with the somewhat
difficult job of finding a replacement without ruffling someone's feathers
in the process. I have found in my experience after 2 years in Exec
positions that most members have the attitude that it is our job to
entertain them once a month. Either they don9t understand the work involved
or they just don9t want to jump in and get their hands dirty. It truly is a
common problem that is not easy to solve. It calls for innovative solutions
and I have not quite cracked that nut myself just yet. I am still working it
out myself. I know this does not answer your original question, but, if it
is any consolation, you are not alone.
