Hi there Jim,
I'm sure you have already read about Move to Mac then in that case
(which is one solution).
http://www.apple.com/switch/howto/move2mac/
Also, depending on how old her PC is, she can burn all of her documents
(I assume in MS Word, which can be read by AppleWorks) and files to a
CD which can be read on her Mac and imported. If the PC is older than
that, then it becomes a little more tricky and could require removing
the PC hard drive from it's case, inserting it into a PC and burning it
to a CD (or into a Mac... depending on which version of Windows and
burning it to a CD).
Obviously for the average customer Move 2 Mac is the easiest solution
as well as having her come to the meetings to ask any questions
regarding problems she has encountered.

Subject: Windows to Mac Migration Assist?
Hi:
I was wondering if any MUG's out there specifically offer potential
new or existing members assistance in the process of migrating from a
Windows PC to a Macintosh?
At our regular meeting last week, a young lady showed up and left her
business card with me for future contact. Unfortunately, she could not
stay for our whole meeting. She has recently purchased a new Macintosh
notebook and she still has her Windows notebook. She says she is
frustrated with the process of getting herself switched over, which I
took to mean getting all of her user-specific documents and email &
internet settings transferred over from her old PC to her new Mac.
I personally have not had to do this from A to Z. I have researched
the Apple web site and have printed out the extensive number of pages
which describe one way to do this which necessitates having a CD
burner available to the Windows PC. I have also seen the information
on the Move2Mac software package which purports to make this all a
faster and easier process.
This user's frustration stems mainly from the fact that, while she was
obviously able to find somewhere to purchase her Macintosh, she has
not been able to find any "human" support to help her make the switch.
There are no Apple retail outlets of any kind in our immediate area
nor anyone offering this kind of commercial service, so it was kind of
logical that she would take a stab at contacting our User Group. She
is quite prepared to pay for this service, although I have told her
that will not be necessary with us.
I am going to take a stab at helping her, and I am fairly confident
that we can make this work. If so, it might be a useful "service" to
kind of package up and promote as a reason for people to join the User
Group. If other MUG's have already done this, I'd be interested in any
lessons learned or documentation that you might be willing to share.
