FIRST: we are looking for solutions to the "Kiosk" problem
for K-8 kids
YES: we are going to attempt to build some Mac-based Kiosks for
a Children's Museum as a test site.
YES: assuming we can find the right software/hardware combinations
under MAC OS, we'll be setting up GRANTS for schools and
children's museums in partnership with user groups.
(UGAcademy Grants is changing to "Johnny Appleseed Grants")
We've found more than a dozen solutions under Windows, but we
would rather work with Macs and Mac user groups.
Too bad Apple no longer has the "At Ease" product... it would have
been a great solution -- and we would probably already be giving
money away. They seem to have shifted their focus to the
"young-n-rich hip-hop" market segments, and forgotten
about children and education.
Now, I think we'll have to hire programmers, etc.
I figured there were some educators out there already familiar with
setting up "kid-proof" workstations, and who could suggest good
software for kids from 1st through 7th grades.
Fred
