Ouch. I hope no one does this. That result would be a lot of very bad,
inaccurate "reviews" that hurt great products and hurt the company that
donates it. The world is already filled with reviews that are written in
ignorance. In fact, as a GoLive specialist I can tell you that the GoLive
Talklist tore apart two of Macworld Magazine's GoLive reviews in past years;
it was full of inaccuracies that real users saw immediately and were furious
about.
But I don't think that's what Elsa said. She said the staff helps a user
decide. Not makes or enforces a decision. I had a friend once who was so
proud of himself: he won AppleWorks but then traded with someone for
MacDraw. He figured a dedicated draw program helped him more. Help would
have been welcome by him. In your case, a person would be told that GoLive
is for creating a website. The user may say, I don't want a site, or I am
happy with my .Mac site, then look for something he can more likely find
helpful in his life. Or he may say he has a friend who has a business and
wants a high end site so GoLive would be perfect, thank you. GoLive gets a
good home where it will be appreciated and the member has done a great thing
for his friend. Everybody - member, friend, Adobe, MUG - is happy.
(Especially if the friend does something nice in return for the member.)
Besides, if the prize is a coffee mug the group does not provide the liquid
beverage along with it. Serve a hot cup of Joe and you may get into all
sorts of liabilities and meeting hall rules. :)
