I can't resist... ;)
As Trish and Paul pointed out, Apple *does* allow use of their logo, in
a specific, controlled fashion via the signature file.
The issue is that so many MUGs have already taken liberties with the
logo. (No, don't ask for examples - they are easy to find.) Some are
quite nice and very creative; others are...not. Bottom line is that
Apple controls its brand tightly, as does Coca Cola and most of the
other top brands in the world. That's one of the reason that it *is* one
of the top recognized brands.
Besides, isn't it better to create your very own brand, to stand on its
own, without having to latch on to someone else's, even if it is a
company who's products we all relate to? Let your group develop its own
credibility and identity - it will serve you well in the long run.
