This was annonunced just recently. What did you do before Apple
started selling iPhones in Germany? For us, it's still a black
market which I think is inapropriate for a MUG environment.
First, we are all US citizens. No one I know bought an iPhone until
it was available in Germany, but I have a friend who bought one in
the States and brought it here. I agree that endorsing "black
market" practices is not appropriate.
OK. The situation is quite different for us. iPhones are sold here
through either private citizens who travel to the States or "courier"
companies who import goods that are either only available in the
States or are much cheaper there. There is no way to buy one "legally"
and Apple has made no comments on where the situation might change.
Since our site was the largest Apple-related site in our country, it
attracted a large number of people offering to sell iPhones as well as
unlocking services. It also doesn't help that Apple has released no
concrete statement on what is and isn't allowed (that I know of).
Also, what do you tell a user who's just had their cracked iPhone
bricked by a software update etc. It's quite a mess. :)
What, exactly, are you implying?
Absolutely nothing. Just trying to make sense of the situation. We
sent mail to email@hidden in the hopes they may have some
guidelines.
Are there any UG leaders on this list who faces these same challanges?
Many thanks,
