It's quite possible. I'm generally a "never say never" kind of person.
There's always the possibility. And it's funny we're having this
discussion - I said I hadn't see any advertising in months and yesterday
there was a half page Zune advertisement in the NY Times. On the other
hand, the advertisement said nothing about any new capabilities or
improvements to the product.
Meanwhile, for those who didn't know, Apple had a big iPod announcement
on Wednesday. There's a new iPod lineup with two big changes: a new and
video capable Nano, and........... a widescreen iPod modeled after the
iPhone. In fact, it's my understanding it's the iPhone without the phone
part and minus a couple of icons on the home screen. Key is the full
featured Wi-fi offering in the product, called the iPod Touch. Very cool
capabilities. See the full iPod lineup at www.apple.com
Perhaps Microsoft will bring out an improved Zune but it will have to be
pretty spectacular to eclipse the iPod offerings during this holiday
buying season. I won't say never, but I think it's odd that MS would
advertise the same-old Zune in September if it plans to bring out a
revamped model in the next 30 days. But MS has lots of money and a half-
page advert in section A of the NYT is a drop in the bucket for them.
