I would agree with the assessment. I avoid .Mac/iWeb (or even
RapidWeaver) for the same reason to publish our organization's site
(or any web site for that matter). As a webmaster, the last thing you
want to do is give up control to someone else. Because .Mac is
designed to be easy, there is less advanced control available, meaning
PHP/MySQL is not available.
Our organization uses Wordpress as our site and I love it! [ http://lamalug.org
] Wordpress can be backed up and moved if necessary. The MySQL
database stores all of the details of the site and that can be backed
up and restored on another server. I haven't personally done this
however.
Our host is MacHighway, they offer good prices to user groups, I
believe (no commission being made here).

Anyway, after she took down the old website and created a blogsite,
there was a "billing issue" and we lost the new site. She's too
short to box with God, so she signed us up with a new server,
DownTown as our Host. Of course, like any good PC/Linux computer/
blogger geek that thinks they are a Mac guru, she did not back up
the new site so she has to rebuild everything. Oh well, its too hot
to play outside anyway.
I asked her if she even considered using iWeb and/or .Mac. She
writes, "Ever run a site from a dot Mac account? (just wondering if
it could be done. I don't think dot Mac accounts run MySql and php)."
I tried asking at Apple, but its been a week and I haven't heard
from them, yet.
So, there it is. Are these WordPress blogsites backup-able? Do dot
Mac accounts run MySql and php? The Board thinks she's the pro from
Dover, so I don't want to offer suggestions if I don't have the facts.
