Hi all,
A friend of mine is developing an application related to iPhones, but
not an iPhone app. This is a software program that runs on a Mac
desktop. He approached me and said he wants to create a kit for user
groups and I showed him recent ones we received from Microsoft,
Parallels, and other vendors.
I thought T-shirts, a copy of the program in a box, and discount codes
were key, but didn't know about pens, pads, etc.
However, I thought, let's see what others have to say.
So if you were designed a swag box from scratch, what would be in it?
I'd like to see him focus on and provide a good video of the software
in use and how to use it so it can be shown as a demo or demo
supplement. Maybe a video of him doing a MUG demo for us. Something
perhaps longer and different than what he might have on his website if
he put one there. This helps the group and helps be sure that his
product is properly understood and demoed.
As everyone else said, if there can be a MUG pricing for those who
saw it at the meeting, that would be good.
Swag:
As others have said, a tee shirt or pen is icing. We really already
have plenty of those things. I wonder how many people actually wear a
product tee shirt. I give them away to guys. These things usually end
up in the group prize drawing. If there is a big prize and then there
is a tee shirt and someone wins the tee shirt instead of the big one,
I don't think they are thrilled to have that shirt. If winner gets to
pick the prize, I have never seen the shirt picked until most else was
gone. If the tee shirt comes with the software as the prize do people
choose it for the shirt?
As swag, I'd rather see something that can be used well. For example,
a small zippered ditty bag can be used in laptop case, a women's
handbag, a briefcase. It can carry SD cards or cables, or makeup or
many other things and is very handy. (My favorite and best-priced
source is <http://bagmasters.com/>. Great service too. (I can't find
the bag on the site but you could call. I know they have them.)
Right now in closeouts bagmasters has a gel wrist rest for $1.86, a
drawstring duffle for $1.69. (Small fee for the imprinting.) A
flashlight keychain for $1.05.
Hope this helps.
