"Similarly without new leadership in these positions, we are stuck with the same model of User Groups that are as outdated as LocalTalk."
I can't speak for others, but I can speak for myself.
The AUGB does require that all UGs have some leadership, but have no requirements other than those minimums. http://appleusergroupresources.com/?page_id=232
I personally, don't care how a group is organized and its leadership is chosen. I like a democratic
approach, but some groups seem to have the same leaders year after year.
Members always vote with their feet. If they like what is going on in their club, they stay. Some members have left & started their own new clubs because they didn't like what the parent group was doing ... or not doing.
I see my role as a facilitator. I have specific responsibilities as an Regional Liaison to Apple, but what I do is
what I have been doing for years before I ever got the job. I was recommended by others for the job. Some clubs are 'balls of fire" & need some help in focusing their energy, some are just lost and need a suggested direction, some need hand holding, some need to be left alone.
My request to anyone with a complaint about me, my level of commitment, or my abilities to make your group's progress easier ... let me know about it. Heck, you can CC: my "boss," too. If I'm not helping ... if I'm hurting ... I'm history.
If you want my job, tell them that, too. Or would you prefer we vote on it? That works for me.

Regional Liaison
Southeast United States
