Your remaining points are equally spurious; however, one thing I cannot let pass: Sal S. did not know when applescript would be released? And he is the head of development for it? Dear God, then who would know??? My friend, there are decaf brands on the market that are just as tasty as the real thing. Give some thought to switching.
AppleScript is not released outside of the OS. Do try to keep that in mind for the future. The Snow Leopard changes to AppleScript showing up in the OS couldn’t be talked about until the OS was released. For Sal to do what you so mistakenly think is so simple requires he:
- know 8 months out when Snow would be released.
- Communicate that information to multiple people at a publishing company not under NDA, or place those people under NDA for information that wasn’t even being released to Apple developers. You know, the people who really need to know, just a bit more than a book publisher
- Not publish a book that would be absolutely current for eight months so that a small set of changes to one part of AppleScript could be accounted for. That makes no sense to anyone, outside of maybe you, when those changes could easily be handled in an online appendix available at the publisher’s web site. (Hint: This is what a lot of publishers do.)
If I have no right to be annoyed then you have no right to take umbrage at my posts. Welcome to ignore. Ta-ta.
You can be annoyed all you wish, but I’m speaking from an experienced POV when it comes to this particular segment of the publishing industry. However, based on what I’ve seen of your thought processes to date, and how you deal with people who try to offer you more information on something, even though it disagrees with your own POV, I think I shall survive the loss handily.
