I'll stay out of the main discussion here about release dates, who
knew what and when, etc., but I will briefly share my 2 cents on a few
points.
Sal's book covers the core concepts of AppleScript, which have not
really changed much for many, many years. While Snow Leopard did
incorporate some AppleScript changes (which I don't think are covered
in Sal's book), as most OS updates do, those changes were somewhat
minor, and mainly bug fixes (with a few new features and enhancements
here and there). If you haven't done so already, you can find a list
of the Snow Leopard changes in the AppleScript Release Notes on
Apple's website at... <http://tinyurl.com/yklzdsj>.
A larger Snow Leopard change involved AppleScript Studio being
replaced by AppleScriptObjC. However, to my knowledge, Sal's book
doesn't really discuss Studio much, other than a few paragraphs. I
don't think the book discusses Automator much either... although,
you're certainly welcome to check out my soon-to-be released Automator
for Snow Leopard book. ;-)
On another note, since this is an AppleScript-specific topic, it may
be better served being moved over to the AppleScript Users mailing list.

I'm interested in purchasing AppleScript 1-2-3 by, Sal Soghoian. My
concern is, is it up-to-date for snow leopard? It seems Automator
has changed in some annoying ways from the Leopard version - even to
the point of how you create new files - and I don't want a book I
have to keep translating from the leopard way to the snow leopard
way, I'd just as soon use the docs on the Apple dev site.
