I actually have no idea. It's a BLE112 device, and the API abstracts some of that stuff. I don't really know what kind of packets it's sending.

No idea.
All I know is that the peripheral is the same for both iOS and OS X, that the iOS app works in the simulator (using the Cirago external dongle), but that my OS X app I wrote to just discover everything about a device doesn't see it; that code is the same as my iOS code, for the most part, but doesn't pass any specific services to scan for in the scan call.
