Drop location on the Finder?

Hi,
Anyone knows how to get the drop location of drags to the Finder?
Something like promiseHFS in Carbon?
What I would like to achieve is exactly that. I would like to promise a
file to the Finder but I don't have the file yet... so I need the drop
location so I can create the file in the right place later (when the job
that creates the file finishes).
Any ideas? Any experience on mixing drag manager calls with Cocoa-dragging?
