Try [packetBrowser setLastColumn:0]. This should at least
unload all the columns except the first one. I'm not sure if
it'll clear the selection all the way. You could also try
[packetBrowser loadColumnZero], and make sure your delegate says
that there are no items in any row except row 0.

Well, this is not exactly what I'm looking for. I would like to clear ALL of the columns...

I find it irritating that the browser code automatically selects row zero without going through the delegate. Is this intentional behaviour or a "bug"?
