For me - this is very much on topic. I have just started developing
cocoa apps. I love it and am a huge advocate. However, I have widely
promoted my first application with links to my homepage site and I have
been using my mac.com email in all my correspondence. I don't know where
to start in terms of moving my software on to another site - its looking
so difficult (how do I re-create the publicity, let my users know of the
new url?) that I'm considering paying for a .mac account. However -
recently I had my iTools account temporarily suspended because there was
too much traffic to my site - will the new non-free .mac account suffer
from these same restrictions? Who knows?
This whole issue has raised the point that as a developer community we
need to have our own space for hosting shareware applications - I fully
support the idea and would be seriously interested in contributing some
of my time (sorry I have very little money).
Well that was my $0.02 (I'll keep the other $98.98 thanks)
