I used fink to install it. I wouldn't call it a replacement, though you
could live in that environment if you wanted to (and perhaps some
developers do). I built it because there were some programs I wanted to
have on my Mac from X-Windows. It was easy to port them, basically, it
just works like any unix environment. I start it up when I want to run
X-Windows programs. Its like "the other" classic environment.
