iDVD is sped up because its algorithm is highly optimized. The DVD
compression algorithm is not part of Cocoa... Not sure about OmniWeb,
but I'm not really sure where it could be using the VE. You can't really
take every Cocoa app and slap an "Optimized for G4 with AltiVec!"
sticker on it.
and some of the big UNIX apps with Cocoa frontend, they all run alot
faster with AltiVec then even on G4ers without AltiVec!
Well, I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about here, but anyway
all G4s have AltiVec (it's part of the G4 chip, after all), and if
they're heavily computational it's likely time will have been invested
in making best use of the VE API.
I wouldn't say that "Cocoa is dramaticly (sic) accelerated by AltiVec".
