I now have an apparently defective nib file, after having used nibtool
to
resave it. I can't be sure this was the source of the problem, however.
Maybe. But I never use the resave option of nibtool, so I never touch
my "original" NIBs (written in the development language) with nibtool.
I only use these NIBs to automatically generate localized NIBs with
nibtool.
But the actual nibtool produces corrupt localized NIBs, unless I make
use of option -O (--use_oids).
So for the corrupt NIBs I have a workaround, but I have no workaround
for the layout problem I mentioned. :-(
The main reason (for me only?) for using nibtool is the incremental
localization of NIB files, without needing to layout everything from
the ground up. But this essential feature is completely broken in the
newest nibtool! :-(
That's annoying, I can't build new versions of my applications because
of this big bug. Hopefully there will be a fix or a workaround soon.
Anyone from Apple reading this? ;-)
How do you "repair" a nib file with Interface Builder?
If I load the corrupt NIB in Interface Builder it gives me the warning
"4 inconsistencies in the document were found and repaired. Please save
the document". When I save the document, the NIB is repaired afterwards
and does not any longer crash my app.
Regards,
Mani
