Does anyone know of a way around this, given the fact that I can't ignore SIGKILL.

Hm. Run the app with root privileges?

That won't make it immune to SIGKILL, although it would mean that the SIGKILL would have to be issued by a user or process that has root privileges.

I can't think of any way to deny the user control to apps in his own user space. And that seems just right too me. :}

It seems right to me, too, but I'm sitting at home typing this on a computer that I own.

In a business environment, the rules are different. Employers often want to limit what employees can do with their workstations. I don't think I'd want to work in such an authoritarian environment, though.
