1) Well, I personally would prefer to have a Cocoa list focus on
cocoa-specific items. Cocoa is a framework for MacOS X, and it would just
help keep my own archive clean and easy to get through. Although the
occasional question doesn't bother me.
2) Look for some unix programming or C programming lists... I wish I could
remember them, although there are a few generic lists for those starting
into programming. They won't deal with platform-specific issues like you can
ask here, although they will deal much with the standard libraries which
your question was about.
Oh, incidentally, the question you asked about using fgetc() is a fairly
common mistake when you start programming. After awhile you will get an eye
for finding simple things like that... or you will go nuts trying :)
