Not going to happen. When Apple made the promise of YB/Win, I never
could figure out what the business case for that, apart from a sudden
urge to satisfy suicidal tendencies. It seems that Apple came to the
same conclusion, and I am not aware of anything that has changed the
situation in the meantime.
I believe YB/win was considered to be the "carrot" for the Rhapsody
"stick". It was a goody pitched to Mac OS (not OpenStep) developers to
get them to jump to Rhapsody.
Recall that in the Rhapsody timeframe, we (meaning Mac OS developers)
were being told that basically all of the years we had invested in
accumulating experience with the OS was now obsolete. We had to
rewrite our apps basically from scratch (in Objective-C) just to get
them to run "natively" (non blue-box) on Rhapsody. So that pain was
supposed to be alleviated by a potential order-of-magnitude increase in
potential customers.
As we all now, that approach was a non-starter, and thus Carbon was
born. After Carbon was there, thus presenting a much less painful
migration path for apps to X, YB/Win had no more reason for being.
